Fall 2007 Football

We had a really fun football season this year. Three boys played football. Josh played High School varsity. He started on the O-line until he banged up his knee. Nathan and Danny played on the Rockville Rec league. Josh was #79 up above and played mostly on the offensive line, Nathan is #25 in the middle picture and played running back and linebacker and Danny was #99 and is in the center of the picture on the bottom and he played offensive and defensive line.

Josh was a starter for the third year in a row on the offensive line, even though he is quite smaller than most of the other lineman. He has great technique and plays very well even when going up against guys 100 lbs heavier and 6 inches taller.

Nathan had a great season, running for touchdowns and catching passes. He even played half a game with two broken bones in his hand, but caught the winning interception to go to the Superbowl. He broke the hand during the game, he didn't tell anyone until after the game that his hand was hurting. I asked him the next day how bad did it hurt to catch that pass. He said, "It hurt pretty bad, I thought about asking the coaches to take me out, but that would have been the dumbest decision.” As a mom, I think the dumb decision was playing the game with a broken hand. Nathan finished the season, playing in the Superbowl with a splint and lots of padding.

Danny was nicknamed the “tackle machine” by some of the Dads on the sideline. The name stuck for most of the season. Danny threw people off constantly. He would just be standing there and some kid would try to tackle him and just bounce off.

All of the boys had great years and we all enjoyed watching them play.
